NSW Nurses and Midwives’ Association

The New South Wales Nurses and Midwives’ Association (NSWNMA) is the registered union for all nurses and midwives in New South Wales.

It represents the industrial interest of nurses and midwives employed under all awards and agreements registered in this State in both the public and private sectors. Its role is to protect the interests of nurses and midwives and the nursing and midwifery profession.

As well, the Association represents and provides for the professional, educational and industrial welfare of nurses and midwives in government and non-government forums at state, national and international level.

The NSWNMA has over 54,000 members and is affiliated to the Unions NSW and the Australian Council of Trade Unions (ACTU).

Why Join?

By becoming a member you will add to the collective strength of the NSWNMA. As part of our over 54,000 membership, you not only share the benefits of belonging to the union, but you can also participate in NSWNMA activities as much or as little as you choose. Over many years our members, working together, have achieved great gains for nurses and midwives in NSW.

Confidential Advice and Assistance

A nursing or midwifery career is stimulating, challenging and rewarding. There will be times in your career, though, when you will need information, advice or assistance in relation to your job. In some instances this will be help that only the union is able to provide.
